Gareth Purves
Design Engineer
Gareth has worked for Novatech since 2001 as our principal Design Engineer. He has a vast knowledge of complex loadcell systems and first hand experience with almost all of the 3000+ bespoke products we have supplied to ever growing list of customers.
He has taken the lead on numerous technically innovative and challenging projects such as; multi-axis bike pedal loadcells incorporating wireless telemetry systems, high temperature and vacuum compatible strap tension loadcells for the NASA ‘Hypersonic inflatable aerodynamic decelerator’ (HIAD) project and loadcells for F1 research and development / component testing as well as large scale wind tunnel balances.
Prior to working at Novatech, Gareth worked at Aerotech A.T.E as a Design Engineer for 2 years following completion of a HNC in Mechanical and Production Engineering.
Gareth is a major cycling enthusiast and competes regularly in time trails on his constantly evolving TT bike, most of which he has re-engineered in search of the infamous ‘marginal gains’.
He is also something of a petrol-head and has restored several classic cars. During the Covid-19 pandemic he started rebuilding a 1980 ford transit motorhome so his family could ‘staycation’ in style.
